Before you begin

Prep time: ~15 minutes
Cook time: 6-8 minutes at 350°F
Yields: Makes 4 and 1/2 dozen, optimistically. How much dough do you eat when making cookies?

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/4 cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Add eggs and vanilla and blend well.

  3. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.

  4. Blend flour mixture into creamed mixture a little bit at a time.

  5. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

  6. (NOTE: Cookies will flatten during cooling. Cool on cookie sheet until set, then move onto a wire cooling rack to cool completely.)

Every time I make these cookies, I forget how good the dough is. I just made some, and it's so creamy and chocolatey and perfect!! And the cookies are great, too :-)
