Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 3-4 slices of stale bread, torn to cubes
  • 2 T butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can (5 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 t vanilla
  • pinch cardamom
  • raisins or dried cherries

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F

  2. Beat eggs and set aside.

  3. Heat milk, sugar, butter, vanilla and cardamom.

  4. Stirring constantly, add egg.

  5. Grease a casserole dish.

  6. Toss in pieces of bread and raisins.

  7. Pour egg mixture over top, let soak for a few minutes, stirring to combine.

  8. Cook in a Bain Marie until custard has set.

  9. For a nice crust, sprinkle some brown sugar on top right before baking.
