Preheat oven to 350°F
Beat eggs and set aside.
Heat milk, sugar, butter, vanilla and cardamom.
Stirring constantly, add egg.
Grease a casserole dish.
Toss in pieces of bread and raisins.
Pour egg mixture over top, let soak for a few minutes, stirring to combine.
Cook in a Bain Marie until custard has set.
For a nice crust, sprinkle some brown sugar on top right before baking.
